Online Sudoku

Online Sudoku is a javascript version of the popular japanese number game sudoku. This can be used to play sudoku online. Sudoku is a mind game and a puzzle that you solve with reasoning and logic. Fill in the grid with digits in such a manner that every row, every column and every 3x3 box accommodates the digits 1-9, without repeating any. For more info about how the game is played, please visit the Sudoku page in Wikipedia.

I've seen these puzzles in the grocery stores and even saw students attacking them in the classrooms, but I never tried to figure one out for myself. Thanks for the "teaching" instructions. I've just completed my first one ever and I'm so happy to have found a daily brain teaser.

Presentation is one of the strong points of this app - you can change the style using the 'style' dropdown in the right side toolbox. Choose the 'Paper' style. I am sure you will like it.

Crap.. I'm around 10:30 for the default ones.. which I assume is easy. Just learned how to play last night so I'll get faster hopefully. Actually tried to learn this game 6 months ago and believe it or not was trying to add all the numbers to equal 45 on each side. Needless to say I thought the games sucked hard. Now I love it.. it's so addicting!

Hi.

I used this script on my company's page: www.toyentrykk.no/?side=sudoku

I translated it to Norwegian, and I modified it so it has five different levels of difficulty; Kiddie-version, Very easy, Easy, Medium and Hard. I also modified it so that the users have to choose level of difficulty before the script loads.

Thank you very much for the great script! :D

I have encountered a few puzzles with multiple solutions. For the most part each puzzle generated has a single solution, but on occasions it breaks this. You should probably revise the method the program checks for this to make sure it doesn’t break the "rules" of Sudoku. However, it’s excellent otherwise.

I discovered this website when we were on vacation in Hawaii, I used to do the Sudoku in the paper there everyday. They had an online version of the paper which I would go to when I got home, and the Sudoku puzzle part of the paper led me here. I am on a Mac computer. I use a (shift, apple, 4) command and outline the paper version of the puzzle, and print it, it fills up the whole 8 1/2 by 11 piece of paper. I do the puzzle by hand on the paper, save the puzzle here on the computer, come back later, plug in my answers and see if I got it right. This is just my little idiosyncratic way of doing it, but I really love it. I am super busy, and I will pick up my piece of paper and put it down again, maybe for days, before I finish it, but my saved puzzle is still there until I am done. this way I can do it at my leisure. I really appreciate you guys. Thanks for the fun.

Susan

Great site, I spend too much time here. But it's not a Japanese game - it was invented by an American named Howard Garns, who called it Number Place. The Japanese just made it popular.
